We are 6 weeks in which means we are about halfway into the season and I just want to give you a little update on my situation with my different leagues. Sure, you might think that since I have my own blog I must be some sort of fantasy football guru and that is partly true. However, I must admit that I am not undefeated in any of my leagues and I am in quite a hole in a league that I have 2 years in a row. Let’s run through them all.
Dynasty League (10 team league)
Record 5-1
I have the most points scored in this league and I am first overall but I could easily be 4-2 if Chris Johnson didn’t score a meaningless 30 yard touchdown at the end of the game. I literally went to bed with about 4 minutes left and I was down by about 7 points. I wake up with 3 text message from my opponent ranting and raving about how much he hates Jeff Fischer and thinks that I have a deal with the devil. Am I don’t blame him. Last year in the championship game, I was tied 164-164 during the final minutes of the Bears/Vikings game on Monday night. My opponent had Adrian Peterson catch a ball over the middle and then fumbled. So basically for a brief moment I had lost the championship and then Peterson fumbled it away with a -2 for fumbling the ball. The very next play Cutler went deep to Aromadaadadanda or however you spell it and I won the game. Lots of luck. I am not too worried about this league as my core players are Chris Johnson, Peyton, Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne.
Classic League (10 teams)
4-2
Despite my 4-2 record I am far more dominant than my record shows. I have the most points scored but I am in second place overall to my buddy who is 6-0. However we have not played against each other and I can guarantee I beat him in week 10 when we play each other. He has had some luck but for the most part he has a good team. I have a few trades up my sleeve that I may pull off that will lead my team to a championship. My core of Wayne, Nicks, Foster and Manning is truly carrying my team.
16 Team League
Record 3-3
Being a .500 team isn’t actually a bad thing in a 16 team league. My team is solid and I am about 7th in points scored which has me encourage. I have lost to the 2 best teams so I won’t have to face them again. I play some weak teams starting this week and I should be 7-3 by week 10. Brady, Moss, and Bradshaw are my key contributors.
Keeper League 12 teams
Record ?
If I were to tell you that I have Peyton, Wayne, Moss, Marshall, Chris Johnson, LT , and Jason Witten, what would you think my record is? Let me tell you that I have the 3rdmost points scored. Guess again. I am 1-5 and am sitting in 11th in my league. Fortunately for me this league allows 7 teams into the playoffs so a 6-7 record should get me into the playoffs. I have the players to do it but I need some players to set up. I have the most points scored against so that is basically why I am sitting in last by I have to believe that this crap won’t continue and it starts this weekend. If I win my next 2 games I will be 3-5 and sitting at about 8th place with 5 weeks left and the best team (on paper) in the league.

Off Topic Frday: I love the 80's
Miss the 80's? Me too. So for your Friday viewing pleasure, he are some videos from the 80's that will absolutely bring back some good memories...
Do not sit there and tell me you weren't a Hulkamaniac! Somewhere Rick Derringer is probably making a royalty off of this.
Sound off like you got a pair!
Is it weird that I as a child I had dreams about Jessica Rabbit?
For most of my college career, I truly believed in wearing my sunglasses at night. Corey Hart is pretty creepy in this video.
"You knocked him down, why don't you try knocking me down now." Philly's Pride
Who you gonna call?!
If you never liked this gum, then you were never a kid.
Hey McFly!!!

Start Them or Sit Them: Week 6
Some of you may be thinking that I quit this whole blog thing. Some might be thinking I can’t hack it. This is not the case. I am just simply trying to recover while finding an excuse to tell you why I told you to bench Malcolm Floyd. I mean how does one man week in and week out somehow make me look like a fool?
Quarterback
Start: Matt Ryan had a borderline poor week, however he got most people 12 points this week which is okay because he didn’t bomb out. This week start the most disgusting man on the face of the planet, Ben Roethlisberger. If your morals won’t let you, fine. But this guy had been raring to go and I think he will connect early and often with his stellar wide receivers.
Sit: Donovan is 3-2, in first place in the NFC East and I don’t know if there is any other Eagles fan that is happier than I am. DMAC is doing exactly what I said he would do. Win games for the Skins. It hasn’t been pretty, but wins are wins. This week bench Matt Cassell against the Texans. No way he throws more than 150 yards.
Running Back
Start: Felix Jones is now officially the playmaking RB the Cowboys needed. I hope he doesn’t stay healthy though as I am a Kelly green blooded Eagles fan. Ronnie Brown will be able to slice up the Packers who will have many key run stoppers out of the game. Green Bay’s D-lineman are be dropped like wet bars of soap.
Sit: How is Cedric Benson still relevant? Still hate him. Now I know what I am about to say his ridiculous but trust me when I tell you this. Michael Turner will not run for more than 60 yards. Take that to the bank. Inside sources tell me that he won’t be able to do much against the Birds.
Wide Receiver
Start: Hines Ward has been patient and now he shall receive…9 catches for 70 yards. Ben will find the trusty old vet open across the middle and on the short outs. The points are bound to accumulate for Ward. Maclin was a solid contributor this weekend but I wonder if Kolb will be able to throw a pass with his O-LINE looking like a $2 pasta strainer.
Sit: With the arrival of Santanio Holmes, Braylon Edwards’ production is bound to go down. With that said, bench Braylon unless you are desperate. He is still useful but I just don’t see him getting as many targets with Holmes, LT, and Keller on the field.
Tight End
Start: Shaincoe is going to be open this week against the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls have a terrible defense and I suspect the middle of the field will be wide open. With teams paying more attention to Moss, Shaincoe could benefit from it.
Sit: I asked you to sit Boss last week and I was right. This week I want you to sit Zach Miller. I know he is on a ridiculous pace but I think that will get halted this week. Not for any other reason than just the fact that teams are aware of him now.

Off Topic Friday: Team Logos
Need some logo's for your team? Well I got them. I've been pillaging the Internet (mainly just one website) and a plethora (yeah I said it) of pictures that you can copy and insert as your team image for your league to see. So sit back and get ready to copy and paste.

“Hey! NO MA’AM isn’t like California, you can’t just walk in. Our standards have to be tough. Now if a man can’t stand a two hour video of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, he’s not strong enough to be a NO MA’AM!”- Al Bundy
"Everything. OK! I'll talk! In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max's toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog... When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I got nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out... But the worst thing I ever done - I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa - and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life." -Chunk

Randy Moss's Trade: Winner's and Loser's
Here is a summary (my feelings) about the trade and it's fantasy impact. For entertainment purposes I have also attached some videos that might make this Thursday a little bit netter...Enjoy.
Winners
1. Aaron Hernandez- Only a rookie and this guy is already on pace for 1,000 yards receiving and over 70 catches. I expect Hernandez’s targets to rise like inflation over the next 4 months. Literally, keep track to see what changes the most. He is considered a tight end, but is more of a flanker. Think Marques Colston, but faster.
2. Brett Favre- There goes my prediction of Favre having a terrible year. He has an immediate deep threat and another red zone option along with Shiancoe. Expect Favre to target Randy a minimum 10 times per game for the rest of the season. Favre went from a borderline #2 QB to a #1 QB.
3. Brandon Tate- Tate was expected to be part of the future for the Patriots when they drafted him in 2009, but I doubt any dynasty owners expected this type of rise. Monitor him over the next 2 weeks and if he gets the target regularly, then feel free to start his as a #3 WR.
4. Percy Harvin- He’ll be used the way Wes Welker was used in New England now that defenses need to respect the deep ball. Harvin will get 8 targets a game minimum and upwards to 13 or 14 depending on the match ups on the field.
5. Randy Moss- Remember Randy when he was on the Raiders? Neither do I, but word is that he dogged it. But I bet you remember when he was on the Patriots that first year when the Pats were breaking all kinds of records. Expect almost that type of improvement. Randy is going to be feed the ball early and often.
Losers
1. Sidney Rice- Sidney Rice just became Mr. Irrelevant. I doubt he plays one snap this season. If you want to drop him after week 8 I don’t think anyone will blame you. He is a wasted pick now.
2. Wes Welker seldom is doubled. Now he will always be doubled. He’ll get chucked at the line and covered by the best corner on the field which used to go to Randy. Wes owners should expect a decline in production.
If your proud to be a Flyers fan...here you go..I thoroughly encourge you to watch the rest of them.
3. Tom Brady- I expect that he will see a slight decline in his numbers, but still expect him to deliver 2 TDs a game. I just don’t think there will be as many yards or big plays. Something that gets rewarded in most leagues. He still has Gisele, so I doubt he is bother by it too much..
4. Visanthe Shiancoe- With the increased targets to Randy, someone needs to suffer and that will probably be Shiancoe. Red Zone targets are plentiful and what Shiancoe got before this trade will diminish slightly. I still view Shiancoe as a decent TE.
5. Adrian Peterson- Peterson’s TD production will certainly decrease now that there is another, maybe even easier, option in the Red Zone. Favre loves the fade pattern and he might used play action more than he did last year and it will come at Adrian’s expense.

Start Them or Sit Them: Week 5
Quarterbacks
Start: Sam Bradford is someday going to lead the Rams to the playoffs and he showed that this weekend. Almost 300 yards passing and 2 TDs. This guy is a future STUD. This week start matt Ryan over Cleveland. I'd expect this guy to pick the Browns apart. Atlanta had a wake up call this past weekend and I expect him and Roddy White to connect twice in the red zone this weekend. Man-genius will be on the hot seat when this game ends.
Sit: Why is Kyle Orton of all people making me look like a fool on this blog? This guy is plaing way above his ability and I can't figure out why. Could it actually be Josh McDaniels? Sit D-MAC this week against the Packers. The Redskins have average offensive line, poor receivers, and no running back other than Ryan Torain. Smart play is to bench McNabb, but pick up Torain for a potential break out.
Running Backs
Start: So maybe Beanie Wells isn't fresh. Maybe he isn't all that good. But I blame the coach for putting the team in a bad position with no QB. Teams know the Cardinals can't pass. Max Hall could be a stop gap until he is exposed. This week Felix Jones is going to get 15 plus touches. Barber is a dinosaur and Jerry "Stone Cold" Jones said so.
Sit: Ahmad Bradshaw broke out, then go hurt. He'll probably be questionable for a few weeks but I hope he isn't because I have him in one of my leagues. I need him to stay healthy. Sorry, if you made the mistake of listening to me and sat this guy. This week bench Cedric Benson for no other reason than the fact that I just don't like him as a person,
Wide Receivers
Start: Greg Jennings is going to start get more looks because teams need to start worrying about Finley more. Driver has scored touchdowns weekly which means teams need to start to pay attention to him now. They cannot continue to let him roam the middle of the feel they way he does. This week Jeremy Maclin should be start in all leagues. I know Kolb hasn't looked that great this year, but neither has the 49ers defense.
Sit: Santana Moss was shut down last week due to a poor performance by the Skins offense. Expect the same thing this week with Malcolm Floyd. There is no way he gets open this weekend against the Raiders. Gates will continue to be the focal point for that offense in San Diego.
Tight Ends
Start: Last week Shockey had enough of an impact to get 11 points for everyone. This week Tony Scheffler will be a targeted early and often for the Lions. I know the Lions aren't that great, but I expect them to muster up a win this week and it will be partly because Tony gets a TD this week.
Sit: Good call on the Brent Celek benching. Really, it was. He only had 3 catches but his TD put him over the top of the threshold. This week bench Kevin Boss. One reason is because I hate the Giants and the other is that Boss only has 9 catches through 3 games played. Expect more of the same this weekend.

D-Mac = Best Eagles QB Ever
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! It is finally here and there may not be anyone else more excited for the game than me. Okay, maybe that is a little over the top but you are catching my drift, right? Now I know that many Eagles fans were not happy with Donovan McNabb and were thrilled when he was traded and they are certainly are entitled to their opinions. I’m just not so sure they know why they hated him. Think about. When I listen to sports radio, most people that call in say that McNabb was annoying and too controversial. Well does not being cool make him a bad quarterback? Nope. Should we blame Donovan for the comments Rush Limbaugh made? Of course not. But we always blame McNabb for everything that goes wrong and never give him credit when credit is due. And when you think about it, we never even gave him a chance.
The “Dirty 30”, who in my opinion are a bunch of overweight, misinformed idiots, went up to New York City and booed Donovan McNabb which started this unneeded hatred for a stellar quarterback. We literally booed a guy who was a PHILADELPHIA EAGLE for no more than 3 seconds because we didn’t draft Ricky Williams. Hey Dirty 30, how’d Ricky “I get high” Williams work out for Mike Ditka and the Saints? DMAC then takes us to 5 NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl and we are happy he is gone? How ridiculous is that? But because he was too corporate for this blue collar town we never accepted him as our own which is unfair to Donovan on so many levels.
I got some bad news for you McNabb haters. He is a 6 time pro bowl quarterback with over 30,000 yards passing. Another 1,500 yards and he’ll pass Hall of Famer Jim Kelly on the All-Time passing yards list. Did I mention he was in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? But how many Super Bowls did Jim Kelly lose? 4. Is he hated in Buffalo? Absolutely not. Why? Because he gave that city the best decade of football that city has ever had. Think that city would do anything to go back to those years when the lost the Super Bowl? You bet they would because even though they lost each year at the end, Jim Kelly gave them an exciting 4 months of football each year. Now what do they have? A horrible quarterback and a horrible team.
Face it, we never gave McNabb a fair shot and we ran the best quarterback we ever had out of this town because he never won it. Imagine what would have happened to Denver if they never gave John Elway a 14th and 15th season. He never would have won it for Denver. Maybe they would be classified as fools like Philadelphia fans are. Instead, they believed in him and he finished with 2 Super Bowls. Now, I’m not saying McNabb would have won it for the Eagles, but I’m saying we’ll never know. Now one thing I will tell you, is if you boo this guy today when the Eagles play the Redskins you better not be standing next to me in Canton when I am cheering for him. If you boo today when they announce his name, be prepared to boo forever, because I will remember who boo’s and cheer’s and I will call you out on it when 15 years from now you claim that you supported McNabb.
I’m going to call it right now. McNabb is captain for the Redskins and Andy Reid sends out all the players to have ever been McNabb’s teammate and they all shake his hand and wish him luck as all of us should. But after that coin flip, Donovan becomes a Washington Redskin. That means I send the dogs after him and win this game not in spite of McNabb, but because we are simply a better team.

Off Topic Firday: The Thankless Job
For those of you reading that are commissioner of their own league then you will know exactly where I am coming from with this topic. It is a usually a thankless job that everyone, other than the commish, thinks is easy to manage. However, these people are simply foolish. Complaints, accusations of collusion, and cheap people are just some of the things I come across in many of the leagues I am in. Being a commish of 3 leagues shows you how difficult my life is.
To begin, nailing down a date to hold the draft is beyond ridiculous. Everyone involved believes that the draft date is something that should revolve around their schedule as if they are the only ones in the league with a life. Do you know how hard it is to get 10 alpha males to agree on one day at the end of summer? Going to the beach is the first excuse. Then there are the people who want to wait to the day before the season starts which happens to be a Wednesday every year now. And don’t forget the guys who just simply don’t return phone calls or text messages.
So once I am able to change everyone’s diaper and we get to the draft portion of the season, people think that I somehow rigged the draft so that I had the 3rd pick even though they were just in the room and watched me pick the number out of the hat. Oh no that’s right. I forgot. I have magical gifts that allow me to change numbers for anything that I want. My mistake.
Then we get to the part of the season where the sheer fact that I still don’t have everyone’s money ticks off everyone else in the league. But do they get mad at the person who didn’t pay? Of course not…it’s the commish’s fault. He should get the IRS and secret service out to hunt down the thieves who haven’t paid their $50 yet to the league. The guy isn’t Chris Gardner and I can’t somehow go into his account and get his money. That crap happens in movies. I ask him, he comes up with some absurd excuse, like the dog ate his league fee and he’ll pay next time I see him. I can’t shake him down. I can’t text bomb him. I can, however, delete him from my friends list on Facebook. Am I? No, because then I will be one less person closer to 1,000 friends than yesterday.
Next up is explaining to everyone how the “Waiver Wire” process works, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE BEEN IN THE LEAGUE WITH THE SAME PEOPLE FOR 8 YEARS!! I mean really. How many times do I need to explain it? It is reverse order of the standings each week. So if you are in 2nd place, well then you get to pick 9th this week since 8 people are worse than you and one person is better than you. This is 4th grade Math people, and maybe even 3rd if you were in one of those ADP classes.
We got a Situation.. |
I could go on and on for another 5 or 6 paragraphs about the crap that the Commish needs to go through on a seasonal basis. No matter what his decisions are or what the outcomes are, there is always going to be someone unhappy with the situation. Sometimes I wonder if people in my leagues know that I have another job outside of the league. Despite what they may think, I work in a average size cubicle and stare at two computer monitors throughout the day. TWO! Commish's are seldom thanked for a discretely difficult job. I guess that is why no one ever says, “I want to be a Fantasy Football Commissioner when I grow up” (this is my only reference to 80’s television for the week).
